I was not looking forward to the 20 miler Sunday, so as I was getting my schedule ready for next week, I noticed that I only had a 15 miler! Yippie. The week went pretty well. Sundays run was horrible, 25mph winds @ 80 degrees. Hot and Windy. Plantar is doing great with no pain, been sleeping in the boot. My hamstrings are taken the beating now. I did not realize Boston was so hilly, Maybe I will relax and run slow and enjoy. Probably going to be my last marathon. Three more long runs, then the taper. I LOVE the taper!

late post
I almost forgot about the blog. Last week went fairly well. High Mileage week for me. I got a couple more weeks of that then its down hill. All my paces seem to be in line with a 2.42-2.45 pace, so for now thats the goal. I have been running through Plantar issues but it is getting better. I have to sleep with my right shoe on during the night to keep it stretched out. Crazy! I guess I could go buy the sock but why when I can use what I already have, plus my dog would probably eat it. This wk is another high mileage week with a 20 miler as icing on the cake...oh joy! I will probably get out to the hills for this one, my route is getting really old. I will have to find a late half marathon a couple of weeks before boston as a test run.

Rain/wind/10 miler

I ran a recovery 4 miles on Tuesday @ 7.38 pace and today I got in a 10 miler @ in 1.08.29 (6.51 Pace) Felt Pretty Good the entire run but the wind and the rain suxs! Hopefully this snow will hurry up and come! Tired of the wind bringing in the storm. I found the Pic on the Internet...Pretty funny, unless this pick is you! You got to hand it to the guy, looks like he is making a push against ALL odds!

Bandit and up tempo medium long run

I have not posted in a few days but have been running. I feel pretty good about the work put in this wk. Saturday I ran a 10k as a bandit. I ran a 5.44 pace which i think is a 35.38. I followed back a good bit from the first two runners, one was a bandit pacer for the other. Overall crossed @ 34.50something. Good Job Chris! Went back and ran with a friend in for a little push, guess it helped a small amount, he had a PR. Then I ran a two mile cool down with friends. Today I did a 10 miler @ 6.22 pace. I feel like training is going pretty well, recovery is getting better and better. I feel that is I can put in back to back solid runs then it has to be a good sign. Afterwards, went and saw an old college friend who just happens to be the Biggest Loser Winner! Congrats to Patrick House, I could not do what he has already done, Great story! I attached a picture of him, me, and my wife Jessica with an old pair of his pants. The Pants really show the accomplishment.

Possible Bandit?? Good Tempo for Tomorrow

Officials force a bandit off the course - Google shared imagesThere are likely five major reasons why runners choose to 'bandit' a race. Whether or not it justifies running without registering, remains up for debate.
There are likely five major reasons why runners choose to 'bandit' a race, running without an offical 'bib' or race number. Whether or not it justifies running without paying the entry fee, remains up for debate.
The Latecomer Bandit
Many races are now capped with a set number of participants allowed to compete. That means many events are selling out in a hurry. For runners with coming off injury, or those with unpredictable schedules, it can be difficult to make the call so far in advance. Running as a bandit provides the flexibility of a game-time decision.
The Cheapskate Bandit
The days of the Boston Marathon charging $1 entry fees are long gone. Most 5K and 10K road races cost around $40, and it's common for marathons to charge more than $100.
Almost every entry fee includes a t-shirt now, whether you like it or not. Also, the increased costs of policing, insurance, timing and fuel, have all contributed to rising fees. Those who choose not to pay, and still feel that they’re entitled to play can try their luck as a bandit.
The Workout Bandit
Doing a half marathon or 10K as part of a long run can be a great way to get the mileage in without too much effort. There are people all around, and the kilometres and miles are clearly marked. In some cases, bandits could even help some of the mid-packers with pacing. Since it’s just a training session, forking over 50 bucks for a bib isn't exactly worth it. However, as race directors warn, bandits could also get in the way – and don’t even think about stealing an orange slice or glass of water at the fuel station.
The Slow Bandit
In races such as the Boston Marathon, where there are qualifying standards, not everyone is allowed to buy a 'bib' number. There are many Bostonians who feel that nobody should be discriminated against on the basis of time, and kept from participating in their hometown race. Another variation to this is when runners try to sneak into different starting corrals, usually to get with a faster group.
The Supportive Bandit
Supporting a loved one from the side of the course is often a futile endeavour. Instead of watching from the sidelines, some runners will choose to run beside their friend or family member for most of the race – without going through the trouble of registering.
If you decide to be a bandit runner, here are a few tips:
•Be respectful and don't get in the way
•Pin an old race number on your singlet, it'll help you fit in
•Don't take food or water from the fuel stations
•Don't push your body to the point where you might require medical attention
•Try to avoid crossing the finish line, if possible

Recovery Getting Stronger
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/66372962 - Details of the run
Total Distance - 4 miles
Total Time - 27.26
Avg Pace - 6.51
Mile1-7.05
Mile2-6.58
Mile3-6.39
Mile4-6.42
Today called for a Recovery Run, I have noticed that my recover runs (Slower Runs) are getting faster each wk. I hope this is a sign that I am Starting to get Marathon Fit. In other words, my body is recovering from hard workouts easier than in the past with little or no effort. Anyway, the wind was gusting 20-25mph which sucked. I hope it slows down tomorrow so I can put in my touch of speed work.
